Meet the Author

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I enjoyed writing ever since I was a child. It's always been a part of my world. Turning this hobby into a career is literally a dream come true. When I was in middle school, I used to write a lot of poems and even won a poetry contest. One of my poems was published in a book. I thought it was the COOLEST thing ever. How long does it take you to write a book? I wrote my first book "Kind Katie" in less than a half hour. It literally spilled out of me. I just imagined the kind of story I would want to read to my daughter. Finding an illustrator, figuring out how to self publish, etc. was the tricky part! What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
Currently, I still work 40 hours a week. My dream is to become a full time author! What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
The "places" where I write my books. "Kind Katie" was written on the “Notes App” on my phone. The book I'm currently working on was written in my Britney Spears journal (shoutout to all the 90s babies!) You have to write whenever the moment strikes. Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Being a Mom is a huge part of who I am. When writing “Kind Katie,” I just imagined the ideal book I’d want to read to my daughter. What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Sleeping and drinking coffee. Do those count =P
Binge watching some of my favorite TV shows (Golden Girls, Schitt's Creek, Workin' Moms)
Cooking is another passion of mine. Especially the part where I get to eat it. ;)
Going to the bathroom ALONE (right moms?).
Above all, spending time with my family.
Oh...and sleeping.
What do you think makes a good story?
The way it makes the reader feel. Sometimes, when I recommend a book to a friend, I instinctively describe the way I feel before I explain what the book is about.
